Prepare and Share a Meal

Meals can be prepared at home, in the shelter, or dropped off. Dinner is from 6 pm -7pm Sunday through Friday and food should be provided for 25 youth. This is a wonderful opportunity for families, corporate groups, church groups and individuals to impact the lives of homeless teens.  If you would like to coordinate an activity with the meal (games afterwards, watch a movie, etc.), please let Kaylah Walker, Volunteer Coordinator, know when you confirm your time and day.

Sign-up once a month, once a week, or even one week a month (great for large groups)! So far the program has received rave reviews from our volunteer chefs and youth.

‘Homestyle Team’ Meal Donation Program:

Meal volunteers are groups or individuals who would like to bring, serve and share a meal with Covenant House GA youth! Meals can be prepared at home, in the shelter, or dropped off.

Please Note:  If preparing meals in the shelter, cooking tools and ingredients are limited. We do have staff available for meal preparation if food items would like to be donated. *We do not accept leftovers*

-Time: Dinner is from 6 pm – 7 pm, Sunday through Friday. Please arrive at CHGA with plenty of time to have the food warm and ready to serve at 6. Dinner must be complete by 7 pm so the youth can participate in their evening activities.

-How Many to Feed: Please prepare enough food for 25 youth. If you or your group will be eating, please add those numbers to your count as well.

-What to Bring: Meals must contain a protein, starch and vegetable. Ask our volunteer coordinator for simple meal ideas (contact information is below). CHGA kitchen provides drinks and paper products. Desserts are always welcome, but not required.

YOUTH MEAL SUGGESTIONS:  Pizza, Fried Chicken, Hot Wings, Burgers and Fries, Tacos, and Mac & Cheese.  We also have a nice charcoal grill which can be utilized.

PLEASE NOTE:  Prepare and Share a Meal requires volunteers to prepare a meal under the guidelines stated.  Please contact Kellie to schedule a meal prior to coming to our shelter and receive a confirmation.
